a wild one against the Devils

The Leafs managed to pull out their first shootout win of the season in a seesaw battle against the Devils in New Jersey on Wednesday night, peppering Martin Brodeur with 48 shots despite having played Tampa on Tuesday night. Toskala started shaky and almost got the hook, according to Leafs coach Ron Wilson, but was stellar in the third period and in the overtime frame as well. Matt Stajan pulled down two goals and an assist for the Buds, while Alex Steen, Jamal Mayers, and Alexei Ponikarovsky added the other goals. You can read the post-game report on Mapleleafs.com here.

Niklas Hagman made a nice move on Brodeur in the fourth round of the shootout to win the game for the Leafs, but the video of it on NHL.com wouldn't load...
