The Leafs blew the second game of their home-and-home series with the Bruins tonight, losing 4-2 and officially putting themselves out of contention for the playoffs. Boo freakin' hoo.
Am I surprised that the Leafs won't be seeing any post-season action this year? Absolutely not. However, I have mixed feelings about it, as any fan should. Part of me would have liked to have seen them sneak in, but let's be honest, it was too little too late. Yes, they have played exciting hockey lately and gone on an improbable tear, but they ran out of gas at the end. You want to know why? I'll tell you why: because this is a team mostly made up of overpaid third and fourth liners (i.e. almost everyone who isn't Mats Sundin, Tomas Kaberle, or Vesa Toskala) assembled by a half-assed, piss-poor management who wouldn't know their heads from their arses on a good day, let alone know much about what makes a good hockey player/team.
What I hope this third straight year of missing the playoffs teaches the chimps at MLSE is that this team is crap and it's time to blow it up and start all over again. This is the first time in 80 years that the Leafs have missed the playoffs for three straight seasons, the last time being the 1926 through 1928 seasons, and speaking for Leafs Nation: THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
P.S. Brian McCabe, you suck. Go back to Long Island because we don't want you anymore...

third... i would have liked the leafs to squeak in as well so that the habs could have played them first round! excitement-a-plenty!
I would have to agree with most of your comments on the leafs. Love the leafs but hate the team if ya know what I mean. The only problem I see with the post is about McCabe. You saying we don't want him "anymore", there are a lot of us out there that thinks he sucks just as bad as you and we "never" wanted him in the first place. He has score more goals on raycroft and vesa than in the opposing teams net. I heard a good joke about McCabe. McCabe is having a after the season party at his house. (not playoffs) and he asks Paul Maurice to pick up all the beer in his truck so as Maurice is riding down the street with $1000 worth of beer in his truck some people say hey Maurice what is all the booze for. "I picked it up for McCabe today" one of the leafs fans yells... "THATS ONE HELL OF TRADE, GOOD JOB"...
